What is the Washington Food Industry Association Educational Foundation?
The Washington Food Industry Association Educational Foundation (WFIAEF) is a new endeavor sponsored by the Washington Food Industry Association (WFIA) which has represented the independent grocery industry of Washington State for over 100 years. The foundation will serve as a tool for WFIA members and their employees to gain business management skills and overall knowledge of the operations of the grocery industry. In tandem with providing scholarship monies for relevant college coursework, we will provide advanced training in the form of funding request grants for those who wish to attend our featured programs. Our mission is two-fold; to accept tax deductible gifts and grants for distribution to eligible WFIA members and their employees, and to promote educational and employment advancement opportunities within the independent food industry.
College Scholarships: WFIAEF will provide applications, and distribute funds to those meeting application criteria. Selection will take place by an independent and professional third party scholarship supervision agency with oversight by members of the WFIAEF Board of Directors.
Funding Requests: WFIAEF will reimburse attendance fees for eligible WFIA members and their employees to attend educational courses, conferences and seminars. Our featured programs include:
Western Association of Food Chains Retail Management Certificate Program offered by many Washington State Community and Vocational Colleges.
The Food Industry Management Program and the Food Industry Executive Program at the University of Southern California.
International Supermarket Management Class at Coca Cola Headquarters in Atlanta, GA.
Today's Managers, Tomorrow's Leaders Seminar hosted by Portland State University in Skamania, WA
WFIAEF will also provide internships, online courses, and free online webinars when possible for the benefit of the Washington Food Industry Association and its members.
WFIAEF is happy to accommodate WFIA members wishing to start their own scholarship fund for employees. WFIA members will be able to use WFIAEF web technology and scholarship management services to organize their self-directed fund.
