WFIA Government AffairsTake Action! Our Government Affairs Committee (GAC) sets legislative priorities and political course of action. Members meet regularly during the legislative session. WFIA's registered lobbyists have a combined experience of over 65 years on the 'inside' of the legislature and state agencies. They provide timely, credible, and proven effective representation on issues directly affecting the food and beverage industry when laws and regulations are made and changed. Get Involved! At WFIA, we are intimately involved and continuously engaged in the ongoing flow of decision making. Our Government Affairs Committee is actively involved in the political process of legislation, regulation, and politics affecting the grocery industry. Washington Food Industry PAC helps to fund the campaigns of pro-business candidates for legislative and statewide offices, and support ballot measures favorable to the industry and oppose those that are not. Public officials who understand the importance of the independent grocery industry to the state's economy are hard to come by. Individuals willing to serve who are able and willing to advocate our industry viewpoints must be encouraged and supported. This support includes financial assistance in their elections. Your participation is vital! Before making campaign funding decisions, the Governmental Affairs Committee carefully considers the recommendations of WFIA Governmental Affairs team who interview candidates, the candidates’ answers to a questionnaire, and the vote records of incumbents. |
