WFIA Government Affairs Committee 2011-12
The WFIA Government Affairs Committee
The Washington Food Industry leverages the power of its membership to provide legislative advocacy on behalf of the grocery industry. While WFIA lobbyists play an important role in the day-to-day representation of the industry, members of WFIA through their participation provide the strength necessary to have our voice heard at the Capitol and throughout the State.

The Purpose of the GAC
The WFIA GAC is responsible for legislative and regulatory issue identification, research and formulation of recommended policies and implementing strategies for consideration and adoption by the Board of Directors. In addition, the GAC has the responsibility and authority to manage the WFIA Political Action Committee (PAC). The GAC assures adequate funding to achieve the goals set by the Board of Directors, authorizes all expenditures and has oversight over all financial reports. The WFIA President serves as the Treasurer and assures that all proper and timely forms are filed with the Public Disclosure Commission to maintain the legal status of the PAC. The Chair of the GAC shall be a member of the WFIA Board of Directors and shall serve on the Executive Committee in the capacity of Vice Chair/Government Affairs. It is the responsibility of the GAC Chair to present all GAC recommended policies, strategies and timely summaries of PAC activities to the Board of Directors.
